Kampung Air Batang is one of the 5 rustic villages along the west coast of Pulau Tioman.
Kampung Air Batang is located directly north of Kampung Tekek and south of Salang. Kampung Air Batang is the second-last stop on the ferry run from Mersing.
Traditionally, Kampung Air Batang is a backpacker hang-out, in part due to its various budget hotels and chalets, offering pretty basic accommodation at budget prices, i.e. fan-only and cold-water showers.
That said, quite a few chalets at Kampung Air Batang have upgraded their accommodations with Ayer-con rooms in recent years and this is giving Kampung Air Batang a bit more cachet than it has been known for.
The mood that Kampung Air Batang exudes is one of laid-back lounging around the pleasant beaches on offer here and just generally easy hanging out. Or, as the locals say, "Lepaklah".
For the more activity-inclined, go for a jungle trek, hill hike or water fall tour. You can also go for a snorkeling excursion at
ABC's Coral bay or Monkey Beach, because the sea is crystal-clear here. And then follow this up by having a tall cool one in the cool evening, while taking in the gorgeous sunset.
Lepaklah :)
If nature is your thing, then rest assured, you can head in pretty much any direction and find amazing creatures.
From the tropical fishes, turtles and even dolphins that inhabit the sea, to the famous monitor lizards and flying foxes that have made their home in Tioman's jungles and urban areas.
By the way, you're likely to run into a few mosquitoes and perhaps some sandflies too. These are part of Tioman's nature too, after all.
However, so long as you use a dab of repellent here and there, you should mostly be spared from their bites.
Note: Kampung Air Batang is also spelled Kampung Ayer Batang sometimes. Both refer to the identical same place, just have different spelling.
