Feedback from an actual Tunamaya Resort guest

Home / Tickets / Update* / Blog

To say that Tunamaya Resort is a private retreat that's value for money may very well be an understatement. Why? Because this gorgeous Tioman resort has the distinct feel of a secluded island paradise the likes of a Maldives retreat, yet won't necessarily break the bank the way its lofty Bounty isle brethren in the Indian Ocean tend to.

The tastefully designed and quality-constructed villas look like they've been positioned with the beautiful natural terrain in mind; each villa being almost one with either the verdant jungle on one side or the beautiful beach-scape on the other.

Whichever tickles your fancy, the vista is always stunning.

The grounds are immaculately maintained and the reception/restaurant/bar area is cool and airy as a result of a perennial gentle sea breeze. The resorts architect has incorporated every single element of this peaceful little slice of Tioman into the style and design of Tunamaya.

That said, Tunamaya Resort is not just a sanctuary retreat for lounging or unwinding endlessly by the pool. For example, the snorkeling around the Tunamaya house-reefs is excellent. As is the diving. You can also go trekking or stand-up paddling. Or swing by the next village for fun, either on foot or by water-taxi.

That said, if you're satisfied with just a swimming pool and the blissful warmth of the sun, then you're in luck, because the pool here is an infinity pool and a pretty one at that.

Tioman Gold Coast

Tunamaya Resort is quite a recent addition to Tioman and it's located on the island's deliciously tranquil south, aptly named Tioman Gold Coast. The area is awesome if you want to relish a few days away from the ruckus of the city, really, really want to get away from it all.

But keep in mind that its remoteness means there are neither little shops nearby to pop round for some groceries, nor family-run eateries for a simple meal.

Mind you, even though our stay was short and we didn't get to partake of the full range of dishes offered, cuisine-wise we had no complaints whatsoever. Quite the contrary. In fact, we've decided to return for a longer stay later this year.

Tunamaya's offerings include beautiful surroundings, tastefully designed rooms, superb service, exciting activities, a divine spa, simply scrumptious dishes and, best of all, Tunamaya Resort is priced attractively.

Tunamaya Resort is a keeper, that much is sure.

We found the resort great for couples out for a remantic stay at an exclusive retreat, but for young families with kids as well, because, apart from the delightful peace and quiet, there's plenty of fun activities to be had.

Tip: If you appreciate the soothing song of cicadas and softly rustling jungle trees, then choose Tunamaya's Jungle Villa. Prefer the enchanting sound of the sea lapping up against the beach, then a Beach Front Villa is ideal. Either way, the beguiling serenade is included.
