If you're taking your car to Mersing, or perhaps you're renting a car, then it's good to know that Mersing offers quite a decent car park. The car park is right next to Mersing Harbour Centre, so it's quite convenient. In addition, the entire car park is fenced off and there's a security guard during operational hours. In our opinion, the car park is safe. In fact, we've yet to hear of anything untoward happening here.

But it's good to note a few things about this car park. First of all, strictly speaking, the Mersing car park is not really a public car park. It's property of one of the holiday islands located just off Mersing and, as such, all resort guests to this island get priority when it comes to using this car park. The island isn't likely to fill up the entire car park for whole stretches at a time, but during public holidays, school holidays, as well as the perennially busy July-August spell, the car park owners do tend to pinch the number of spaces available to the general public by quite a margin, so as to favor the island's resort guests. Fair enough.
In other words, typically, it pays to try and reserve a slot in the Mersing car park in advance. Reserving a slot entails letting us know you wish to reserve a slot for your car and passing us your specifics, i.e. name, your Tioman dates and your car registration number. We'll then contact the car park attendant to put in your reservation request. All our passengers are entitled to this privilege.
That being said, this is as far as the reservation goes, since holding a slot is subject to availability. Now, if there is a slot available, then we'll hold it for you. All you need to do to claim this slot, is to show the car park attendant your name.
From your details and your car registration number, he will know this slot is reserved for your vehicle.
If there's no slot available, then there's Plan B, which is calling the phone number that you'll find in our ferry tickets reservation confirmation email.
The charges for the main Mersing car park are up to RM18 per day, very reasonable. Try to park your car under a tree, or in one of the shaded areas, because the car interior gets quite hot when left in the open.
Also, during the monsoon, i.e. from November till February, the car park has been known to get pretty flooded, so this is something to be aware of.
Please also take note of the car park opening hours, because on certain days, i.e. when the tides are not so suitable for the ferry, the ferry might arrive in Mersing from Tioman after 7.00 pm, car park closing time. In these cases, it's best to arrive a day earlier, or, alternatively, make arrangements with the car park attendant for your late arrival.
Incidentally, there's no charge for reserving a slot for your car. However, we recommend handing the car park attendant a modest tip for his efforts. Thank you.
Lastly, please note that the above service is extended exclusively to Tioman Ferry passengers who booked their ferry tickets with us online in advance. Travelers who booked their ferry tickets from a different ferry operator, please submit your car park request with that ferry operator.
