Mersing Car Park

Home / Tickets / Update* / Blog

If you're taking your car to Mersing, or perhaps you're renting a car, then it's good to know that Mersing offers quite a decent car park. The car park is right next to Mersing Harbour Centre, so it's quite convenient. In addition, the entire car park is fenced off and there are attendants to keep an eye on things during operational hours. We've yet to hear of anything untoward happening there.

But it's good to note a few things about parking at Mersing. First of all, there are 2 main car parks in Mersing: the Rawa Car Park and the Public Car Park.

Rawa Car Park

Strictly speaking, the Rawa Car Park is not a public car park. It's property of one of the holiday islands located just off Mersing, called Pulau Rawa, and, as such, all resort guests to this island get priority when it comes to using this car park. Now, the island isn't likely to fill up the entire car park for whole stretches at a time, but during public holidays, school holidays, as well as the perennially busy June to September spell, the Rawa Car Park owners do tend to pinch the number of spaces available, so as to favor their resort's guests. Fair enough.

Public Car Park

In other words, unless you're staying at one of the Rawa resorts, it pays to try and reserve a parking slot at Mersing's other main car park, the Public Car Park. Reserving a slot entails letting them know you wish to reserve a slot for your car.

The charges for parking at the Public Car Park are RM15 per day, quite reasonable.

Second, please take note of the Public Car Park opening hours, because on certain days, i.e. when the tides are not so suitable for the ferry, the ferry might arrive in Mersing after 7.00 pm, i.e. car park closing time. In these cases, it's best to arrive a day earlier, or, alternatively, make prior arrangements with the Public Car Park attendants.
