This section should really be called "Taxis in Tekek", because of Tioman's six main villages, only Tekek has a regular taxi service. The reason for this is simple: only Tekek has a few roads suitable for cars to. Although the taxi goes to Juara also these days.
The longest stretch is from the north of Tekek to Selesa Condotel, a distance of about 7 kilomters. But, as I mentioned above, you can also take a taxi from Tekek to Juara. Mind you, this is a somewhat hairy trip, because it passes along pretty steep sections of the road, which essentially has been carved out of the mountain range separating east from west Tioman.
By the way, the roads tend to be a bit bumpy, something to keep in mind. It can't really be helped though, given the the rugged island environment, the steep mountain slopes and the heavy rainfall during the monsoon months, november and december. Still, you'll probably enjoy the rides all the same, because the views are spectacular.
Incidentally, a few taxis have started operating out of Juara Village, the result of two resorts opening up in Juara not that long ago. The track that has been built there to accommodate these taxis doesn't really make for a smooth drive either, but it works, so no big issue.
By the way, most of the vehicles used as taxis in Tioman are not exactly brand new. Whilst this doesn't make them inherenty unsafe, coupled with the rugged terrain, it does make sense to always be wearing your seat belt.
The other thing to note is that since every liter of petrol needs to be shipped to Tioman, getting from A to B, either by water taxi or regular road taxi, is not cheap. Make sure you have some idea of the going rate before you hop on.
