We stayed a night at Swiss Cottage, after ferrying in from Mersing a few weeks ago. The mood at this lovely little resort is relaxed and the location serene. Our chalet was not so much a stone throw as a mere stone flick away from the sun-kissed white sandy beach and the turquoise sea, lapping up against the shallows and all. The setting was truly breathtaking.
Whilst the waterline is great for wading or lazing in the sun, there are enough coconut trees peppered around the grounds to create shaded areas too, great for a breezy picnic at the beach.
The chalet interior is clean and well maintained. And everything works, the hot-water shower, air-con, kettle, as well as the Wi-fi connection.
The resort offers meals, home-cooked and tasty, as well as free coffee and tea. But there are quite a few Malay family-run eateries nearby if you like venturing out a bit for your F&B. We tried a few of these and the
makan they served was equally delicious as at Swiss Cottage.
Speaking of venturing out, if you're into visiting reefs, corals and other marine life, then you're in luck, because there's a
snorkel/scuba outfit right next door from Swiss Cottage. We went on a dive excursion and spent a few hours snorkeling.
All in all, a great time was had. There was only one problem with our stay here... it was too short.
Room Tip: Get the chalet right at the beach. The soporific sounds that the waves make will have you in seventh heaven your entire stay.
