Redang Island is renown the world over for its crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches and its abundance of tropical marine life that inhabits the countless reefs within swimming and of course snorkeling distance from the island's beaches.

Redang is a bit different from the neighboring budget-oriented Perhentian islands in that Redang offers more exclusive holidays with almost all accommodation on the island being resort-based.

Located on the east coast of Malaysia, Redang is best visited from March until October. This is when the weather is most stable and the sea is generally calm. In fact, the chances of sun and warm breezes are as good as 100% during these months. is ultra-peak season, which coincides with the best snorkeling and scuba diving conditions.

The remaining months, i.e. november and december are the wetter monsoon months, which are considered less suitable for R&R. January and February are no longer as wet, but they're the windy months, which makes it somewhat less fun if you're in Redang for the snorkeling or the diving.

Redang

Like its sibling island Tioman, Redang is best visited by ferry, either from the Kuala Terengganu or Merang jetty. Ferry tickets are cheap and at less than one hour travel time, getting to Redang is a quick and painless affair. That said, you can also take the Berjaya Air flight to Redang. The plane ride takes about 45 minutes from lift-off to touch-down.
