Feedback from an actual Puteri Salang Inn guest

We stayed at Puteri Salang Inn for a week during the Easter holidays and I have one word for you: Eddy. At least in part thanks to Eddy, we had a wonderful Easter week in Puteri Salang Inn. Eddy is the owner of Puteri Salang Inn and he has got to be the most helpful and most likable resort owner in Tioman. He's always at the ready with advice or a chat and a smile. Happy Eddy we called him. By all means ask him anything you want to know.

To us, Eddy is the personification of "joie de vivre". Not all that surprising given the little island paradise where Eddy spends his days. And I also noticed that he keeps everyone provided for with coffee and tea refills. Complimentary!

Incidentally, Eddy can also help you with your snorkeling, scuba diving or jungle-trekking trips. He had us set up in a jiffy. In truth, Eddy pretty much is Puteri Salang Inn. He is the heart and soul of the establishment.

Welcome to Puteri Salang Inn
Welcome to Puteri Salang Inn

Puteri Salang Inn, as the name implies, is located in Salang Village, at the most northerly tip of Tioman.

We found the atmosphere and hospitality in this little neck of the woods to be awesome. We really liked the garden environment and the general set-up of the place.

I mean, Puteri Salang Inn is ever so tranquil. The vibe is very relaxed. And the Puteri Salang Inn grounds are spacious, well maintained and lush everywhere you look. The panoramas of the rainforest-covered mountains peaks were just amazing.

Puteri Salang Inn is tranquil, relaxed, amazing and, best of all, a mere 3 minute walk from the beach. What more would you want? To us, Puteri Salang Inn was truly our little paradise.

Cabana

My friends and I stayed in the triple aircon cabana, which probably wasn't the cheapest in the area. But with all the extras that we got, we concluded that it was probably the best deal available in Salang. We got an attached bathroom and a little porch, to cocoon on till the wee hours of the morning. Lovely. By the way, everything was spotless.

But I'm not done yet, because the cabana also has a drying line. Real useful, since you never run out of wet clothing at a beach resort. And if you've had enough sun for the day, then you can watch movier on tv (cable, no less!). Or pick up one of the books from the little book cache that Puteri Salang Inn has accumulated over the years. I reckon I saw books in dozens of languages.

In fact, speaking of books I truly found my sanctuary in one of the Puteri Salang Inn hammocks, totally immersed in an awesome book I'd found. Robinson Crusoe, eat your heart out :)

Internet

Now, for those keen to keep friends and family back home updated with Twitter or email, rest assured, Puteri Salang Inn offers wi-fi. That's the good news. The better news is that it's only RM 10 for your entire stay. That said, it's possible that internet will be offered free in the months/years to come.

Either way, the best news is that, unlike many other places, bandwidth isn't pinched; Puteri Salang Inn's wi-fi is actually pretty speedy. Well done to Puteri Salang Inn for this. Decent wi-fi is rare on remote islands like Pulau Tioman.

Lastly, note that there was also a fridge-freezer combo, a hot-water kettle and a bread toaster at our disposal. So I think you now know how comprehensive Puteri Salang Inn is when it comes to little bonus extra's. Bottom line, Puteri Salang Inn is value for your Rnggits; whether you're in the triple air-con room at RM 150 per night or one the more bare-bones RM 40 per night rooms.

Eddy and Puteri Salang Inn are an absolutely winning combination. Highly recommended.

Tip: If you book Puteri Salang Inn ahead, you can call Eddy and he will come to collect you from the ferry jetty on a moped. Great service. His number is 013 746 0115 . Okay, final tip: There are several eateries in the vicinity of Puteri Salang Inn, as well as a duty-free shop and an open air pub.
