If you're into caving and nature exploration activities, then Merapoh is an absolute must-do. Offering at least 500 individual limestone outcrops and countless caves, Merapoh is considered by the international caving community to be a veritable caving paradise.
What sets Merapoh apart is that a great many of its caves are home to a wealth of rare flora and fauna species. And given that many of Merapoh's caves are as yet undiscovered, it's safe to assume that Merapoh also harbors creatures that have never even been seen yet by man.
In fact, there are still hundreds of caves around the Merapoh area that have yet to be explored at all.
It is the excitement of the great unknown, the thrill of discovery, that makes Merapoh the exciting caving hotspot that it is today.
Being predominantly limestone caves, expedition members may have to wade through icy streams, or even swim across crystal-clear rivers. In other cave spaces, there may only be room enough to crawl. And don't be surprised if you need to climb rocky wall faces or navigate up or down pristine waterfalls. Merapoh doesn't relinquish its inner secrets easily. But the rewards are priceless.

To wit: you will come face to face with cavernous underground chambers filled with ancient stalactites and decorated with colourful, intricate calcite deposits that are a sight to behold. You may come across cave paintings that are believed to be drawn by pre-historic people. Also, keep a look-out for wildlife uniquely specialized for living in a cave, such as bats, swiftlets, reptiles, amphibia and many invertebrates species too. It pays to bring your camera!

Please note that seeing as that there will likely be a number of physical and mental challenges faced during your cave journey, we recommend that expedition members are not just in good physical health, but actually fit as well. Please also ensure that, for obvious reasons, you do not suffer from claustrophobia.
