I stayed at Cheers Chalet by recommendation of a dive buddy of ours, who said that Cheers Chalet may not be the cheapest chalet in Tekek Village, but according to him, the Cheers Chalet deal, by far, is the best value for money. So our very next Tioman trip, we made a bee-line for Cheers Chalet and after checking it out for a while, decided to book for 3 days.
Well, in the end, we stayed at Cheers Chalet for over a week. And we fully concur with our buddy. Cheers Chalet is a basic guest house, great for budget travelers, yes, but it offers a whole trove of useful and convenient extras that made our stay that much more enjoyable.
Welcome to Cheers Chalet.

We had one of the so-called Deluxe rooms with air-con and a powerful hot-water shower in a good-sized attached bathroom. All in all, our room was bright, clean, faced a lovely well-kept garden and had a spectacular jungle view.
The ambience was dreamily tranquil, particularly during dawn and dusk. Many a peaceful, blissful moment was spent on our little patio drinking in the idyllic tropical mood from our comfy rattan chairs.

Cheers Chalet's vibrantly painted little bungalows are located along the main Tekek strip that dissects the village into the rainforest on one side and the beach on the other.
We found we were never left wanting for Cheers Chalet's central position.
Aside from the beach being just a minute's stroll away, there's also quite a few nearby eateries to choose from, as well as a sundry shop and even a charming little beach bistro called Tioman Cabana, all within a stone's throw of Cheers Chalet. Even the Tekek Jetty is a walkable distance away. As was our dive outfit, Tioman Dive Centre. Perfection!
But Cheers Chalet had plenty more to write home about. Some of the extra features: A wardrobe, a fan, for when things get too hot, a kettle and some mugs for making coffee or tea, a fridge, free wifi, free insect spray, free toilet paper. Sure, none of these are game-changers per se, but it's ever so great to have them when you do. Hat's off to the Cheers Chalet owner.
In addition, Cheers Chalet has a ferry jetty pick-up and drop-off service, so you won't need to carry your luggage to your abode by hand; instead, they'll give you a complementary ride, a service we appreciated greatly, particularly on the morning of our return to Mersing, because our ferry was at 7 am.
Incidentally, speaking of appreciated service, Cheers Chalet also has a laundry service. They washed and folded all our laundry for a steal.
Given Cheers Chalet's awesome location, great room, friendly staff and full quiver of bonus extras, we found the slightly above-par room rate very much worth it. Will we be back? Definitely.
Tip:
Cheers Chalet hasn't got any sea view bungalows, but the awesome garden more than made up for this. Now, no gardens without a creepie-crawlie or two, so bring your preferred anti mozzie measures if you don't want to use the bug spray provided. That said, apart from a few ants, the bug situation was well under control. Cheers Chalet don't really have a food service, so just head for any of the restaurants nearby, or even Swiss Cottage, which do a mean breakie. By the way, the Cheers Chalet rooms at the back are more quiet, because they face away from the road. Oh, if you need to wifi, then take a room closer to the source, because the rooms that are further away tend to be subject to a bit of wifis interruptus. Lastly, scuba dive tours tend to descend on masse upon all 15 Cheers Chalet bungalows quite regularly, so book early if you're looking to stay at Cheers Chalet.

Pro Tip: Not sure which jetty to select in the booking form? You can choose any of the jetties in the form, because the ferry typically (though there's the occasional exeption) goes to each of the jetties listed.
