The minute you set foot on the Bagus Place beach, you know that you're in for something special. This gorgeous remote little slice of Tioman Island is about as far away as you can get from the hustle and bustle of the civilized world.
The mood at Bagus Place isn't just laid back, it's utterly laid back. If you had any anxiety clinging to you, like so many of us nowadays, then trust me, you'll have them falling off you completely before you can say
blissful tranquillity.

The rooms at Bagus Place are more like cabins, each themed in its own unique way. No two are alike, but each of them is as charming as the next one and each of them has a little something unique in its own special way.
That said, if you're after a paradise island castaway setting, whilst still having sumptuous food and drink always within arms' reach, then it doesn't really matter which of the cabins you select to stay in, because all of them offer that ultimate dream: a private Robinson Crusoe-type setting on a picture-perfect Bounty island.

By the way, picture-perfect really is the best phrase to describe the Bagus Place beach. The sea water is a turquoise shade of blue that you have to see to believe.
And the best part is that it's a clear as gin. A regular visitor of Maldives, I can safely say that this beach is on a par with some of the Maldivian atolls.
Mind you, there are periods in the year when the waters here get churned up a bit, such as during the monsoon (December - January) when Tioman's surrounding water is a bit more choppy and murky. Locals call it "teh tarek", after the staple tea-with-milk brewed here.

But the rest of the year, Tioman is
scuba-diving and snorkeling central - and rightly so, because visibility below the surface can reach an amazing 30 meters.
Speaking of scuba-diving and snorkeling, if you're aiming to have a go at these, take a boat trip to Renggis Island.
The coral here is some of Tioman's most breathtaking. Plus, you can catch a glimpse of a few docile turtles and juvenile reef sharks that have made their home here.
Conclusion
Bagus Place is not cheap, let that be said. But in my experience, the Bagus Place experience cannot be beat and is, in fact, worth every penny.
The fact that Bagus Place's staff is the friendliest and most helpful I've encountered in my years of traveling just adds to Bagus Place's awesomeness factor. I, for one, will be coming back. Want to check availability? Click

Tip: Bagus Place is not a mass resort. There are just a few cabins here, so, as you can imagine, these cabins tend to be booked far in advance. My advice: if you'd like to try Bagus Place, best book early.
