Rebreather Diving in Tioman

Rebreather diving, or CCR diving, is where an underwater diver uses so-called rebreather apparatus to supply him/her with a constant source of air. A rebreather unit can recirculate the diver's exhaled air after replacing the oxygen that's used by the diver and removing, or "scrubbing", the carbon dioxide metabolic product.

Rebreather diving is used by recreational divers, cave and wreck divers and underwater photographers especially, because no noisy bubbles need to be expelled at every exhalation. This not only makes a rebreather a much quieter system than regular scuba gear, but also prevents wrecks and caves from filling up with this exhaled air, which may result in faster wreck corrosion and the dislodging of material.

Our dive outfit is only one of a very few Malaysia-based training facilities that offers the Tec 40 and Tec 60 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) courses. Our TEC 60 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) instructor has 30 years' worth of experience under his weight-belt. So, clearly, you're in safe hands.

TEC 40 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) Course

The Tec 40 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) course requires 3-4 days, depending on your comfort and skill level with the Rebreather. There will be 1 or 2 confined water dives and 6 open dives to complete this course. The cost of the TEC 40 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) is from MYR 4,000 and includes:

- use of the Buddy Inspiration Closed Circuit Rebreather
- rental of standard dive gear if required
- bailout tanks
- sofnolime
- gases
- all the dives.

Not included is the student manual.

Our TEC 60 Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) Course is similarly structured, but with a few differences.
